On Friday, 28th May 2017, the students of Tercia, Kvarta, Kvinta and Sexta visited the ancient capital city of the Roman Province Noricum, Carnuntum in Austria. We saw two amphitheatres, the civil one and the military, the Triumphal Arch, one open air museum in Petronell where we could walk through the rooms of the reconstructed “vila urbana” and relax in the Roman spa and the indoor museum in Bad Deutsch Altenburg. There are more interesting places in the area – the chateaux in Petronell, the beautiful church and the bone house in Bad Deutsch Altenburg, the Danubian trails … unfortunately, the weather was not so nice as we would love it to be. At the end of the day we received a gift for spending the day with the Romans – a Roman coin to remember our visit.
„V piatok, 28.4. sme ráno odcestovali autobusom do malého mestečka neďaleko slovenských hraníc, nazývaného Petronell. V minulosti sa tu nachádzalo veľké rímske mesto - Carnuntum, jeho pozostatky a niektoré zrekonštruované budovy, ako napríklad kúpele sme mohli vidieť v areáli múzea "Römerstadt Carnuntum". Taktiež sme navštívili pamiatky v okolí, ktorými boli pohanská brána, amfiteátre a ďalšie múzeum.“
Cyri Baňačka, Tercia
“I really enjoyed the time spent during our last school trip to Petronell. The best part was the ancient town where we could walk and try to imagine what it was really like in the Roman city of Carnuntum. We liked it very much because we are interested in history and ancient civilisations.”
Ester Illéšová, Tercia
“I really enjoyed visiting Petronell. It is interesting and nice place. It was cold that day, when we arrived, but we warmed in spa in Carnuntum. Also, the interior of that spa was very nice, I felt like if I were in the time of the Roman Empire.”
